Developing Problem Solving

There are plenty of problem solving resources available, but we are addressing the issue of how best to use them – focussing on a generic approach to develop teaching and learning in the classroom.

We have developed a broad spectrum definition of problem solving and for the third year running, are training up a regionally based network of  ‘ambassadors’ to develop the pedagogy of problem solving.

There will be an initial project meeting and following this, ambassadors make contact with other maths teachers in their area to form a local group and introduce materials and teaching approaches to their team of teachers. These are then used with classes over a three month period, during which time ambassadors will provide a supporting role.
