For both Primary & Secondary Schools

Mastery for ITE Providers

This workgroup hopes to support anybody who is directly involved with training future teachers (whether school-based mentors, School Direct or SCITT programme leaders or University providers) in the key principles which underpin the NCETM’s Primary Teaching for Mastery approach.

There will be two sessions in which participants will come together to explore Representations and Structure, Variation, Coherence, Fluency, Mathematical Thinking and Mindsets.
The sessions will also explore the Mathematical pedagogies Leeds Trinity students are taught thus creating coherence between centre-based and school-based training.

Participants will then have the option to observe Mastery Specialists and colleagues from Shanghai teaching before experiencing the strength of a the Lesson Study Model to promote professional dialogue.

The project will provide opportunities for current module reflection and collaborative forward planning. Interim activities will aid in this exciting pilot project to create sustained development of both teachers and trainee teachers alike.

We are currently planning dates for the next programme in 19/20. There is no cost to participate as this project is funded by the Yorkshire Ridings Maths Hub.
