For Secondary Schools

Making Connections Between Maths And Science

The curriculum is not always designed coherently, resulting in pupils not seeing links between different subject areas, even when identical or similar concepts are involved. The programme aims to address this.

Participants – two from each school (one maths and one science teacher) will attend 4 full day sessions.

The Work Group will identify and explore a range of concepts that are taught in both Maths and Science, the pedagogy participants of different subjects would use when introducing these concepts and decide on a common approach.

The Work Group will consider different materials and activities that can be used in both areas to make links between the subjects and support students’ knowledge and memory. Participants will also work on collaboratively planning their own resources and also planning their own lessons whilst taking these links into account.

Work Group participants will be encouraged to share what they are doing with others in their department to have impact on the practice of others, as well as jointly delivering training to both departmental teams.

How can I get involved?
