Lizzie Oates
Federation of Kirkby Malzeard CE Primary School and St Nicholas CE Primary School, West Tanfield
Lizzie works across the Federation of Kirkby Malzeard CE Primary School and St Nicholas CE Primary School, West Tanfield. She is currently a Year 3/4 class teacher, the Maths Lead across the federation and a member of the Senior Leadership Team, with 12 years of teaching experience across EYFS to Key Stage 2.
Training as a Primary Mastery Specialist in 2024/25, Lizzie has led a Focus Group supporting schools with the implementation of a mixed-age curriculum using Curriculum Prioritisation materials. Alongside her Mastery Specialist work, she is also undertaking the Professional Development Lead Qualification, further developing her expertise in delivering effective professional learning.
Lizzie is particularly passionate about Teaching for Mastery as an approach that supports all children to become confident mathematicians and is keen to champion the strengths and opportunities of mixed-age teaching when mastery principles are embedded well.
